Sketchbook pro fun

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Downloaded a trial version of sketchbook pro for the desktop and been playing with it. Shit is a lot of fun and tools are pretty good, takes a lil getting used to but the ipad version was helpful in being familiar to the UI.

The Art of Falling Out…

Monday, July 18th, 2011

All Week the weather forecasts were wrong, each day was supposed to be worse then the previous day. Monday-Friday forecasts fell short of the high temps being predicted. Sunday was slated to be a nice day,  mid 85-ish, thats about 29.4C  for those of you not in America, not bad, warmer then id like but still not bad. At 9:00 Am i left the house and headed towards Brooklyn, 1010 Winds said it was already 80 degrees. There was no way it would only climb 5 degrees through out the day. I got to the wall and the sun was blazing already, thanks to Kem5 the only tree in a 3 block radius was de-limbed as it was interfering with his painting (I think he just hates nature really), at any rate there went the only shade spot in area. By 10:30Am it was 89 degrees and climbing rapidly. I drank water, lots of water, ate food, wore my ‘working in the field’ hat plus sweat band. At noon-thirty or so it was 97 (35C-ish), lawd-a-mercy, HIM jus’ a burn we out! I didn’t even need a lighter to light a cigarette, you just needed to touch it to the hood of a car and poof, FIRE! So there we are suffering, trying to make the best of it, there was plenty of good people around to help keep spirits up. Around 430 i had lapsed in my water consumption, and began getting some real heavy head rushes, which i tired to fight through. Finally I hit head rush number 13, and I realized i wasn’t making it out gracefully. I was talking to Stae2 and Yes1 and all of a sudden i became aware that i was standing up, holding my ladder white knuckle style and my legs were gone; i was holding on trying to make it to the bell, whilst seeing the canvas looking like a pretty solid inevitability. I was one wobble away form the ground the yes1 stepped in and gave me and arm helped to to the ground and hit me with a half gallon of cold water. Fuck, i felt like a horse fiend doing the stumble nod, shit was NO good. I am not fan of not being in control of my body movements and activities. Thanks to Yes and Stae2 i was saved, if not for them id polly be face down on the brooklyn concrete right now sleeping it off, or worse… i could be used as a human picnic table by some of the many hispters in the area, and had my face drawn on like they like to do when people pass out, which would end up on youtube and then id have to cut some people. I digress… After the water and a few minutes of resting I was back on the life side of things and felt a lot better. the take away is, 97 degrees, 18 lbs of hair, body by Xbox, not enough water is a no win scenario, however surrounded by good people, makes all the difference in the world. Violins and roses!

The wall was supposed to be black, which much of it was, however my section was a city buff grey, which through off the game plan of having a black background, sometimes half the fun is working with what you got, which can also then turn into the main source of heartache, regrets and shattered dreams; Ive seen it happen. At any rate, after the heat almost KOed me i drew down on some of the plans to fill the vacuous grey background area. As Usual there was a good selection of people present to while away the day, shoot the shit with. Hotta Fya, humble I.

As part of the restructuring it has fallen on the shoulders of HR people to ‘let us down easy’. Even in loosing a job youre not in love with kinda sucks. Im reminded of being the only loser to skip school on a skip day and then being bored to death cause no one else was around to enjoy the ditch day with. Whats worse is to have HR people try and sell you a bag of crap, only to find yourself in a position requiring you to thank them afterward. You’re firing me, How is that a ‘really good deal’? I’m all for making the best out of a bad situation but nothing is made better by pretending the a tragedy is really a blessing in disguise. I guess we can’t just call a spade a spade and move on.

Dear Spam bots, Please spam me with job opportunities and or other ways to get rich or die trying.

Digital green space, the ipad sketchbook

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

II finally broke down and bought a stylus for the Ipad and it was the best 14$ ( i got two, one for each hand, no i loose these things so i got a back up) ive spent on a non- digital item with digital applications ever. I ended up getting a Pogo Sketch Stylus, by Ten One Design.

One of the best things about drawing on the train is over time you get to see familiar faces and get to know people in a removed sort of fashion. You get to see people in all there facets, in random order, only suing your memory to sort out where they are today.  So as it happens i had a second encounter with a fellow commuter, which was very redemptive.
i was sitting in a double seat with a woman and an elderly gentleman. The lady, well call her Fran, asked me if i was drawing. I said yes and showe her the ipad screen. She was excited about it and remarked to the elderly fellow, well call him Grumpy Gramps, that i was drawing and very talented. To which Grumpy Gramps, replied very dryly that he to draws, and as such he seemed less than impressed.
Fran: oh you draw on the computer too?
Grumpy Gramps: no i used pen and paper.
oh Gramps your really pulling the old timer on me here huh. These youg folks and their disrespect for tradition, I USE PAPER, and draw the way it should be done.
Fran: oh, well im sure youre very talented too. Im sitting with two talented artists.
How nice of Fran to placate Gramps by also allowing him to be talented. I think that warmed gramps up a bit, And he finally forced him self to actually look at what i was doing. I think to his surprise i wasnt drawing a stick figure or some sort of crude pornographic image.
Gramps: you gonna draw the belly (in a voice with NO tact in regards to train passenger  proximity )
Oh now youre all interested huh, you Grump. He was actually quite nice and probably would have been interesting to talk to had we had more of a ride ahead of us.  Through out all of this i started to feel more and more as though i had seen Fran before. Finally as i was getting of the train it hit me, Fran had already appeared on Reason & RasClot before, filed under Bad manners. Yes Fran was Ms So you didn’t go to finishing school?, And here she was the antithesis of all she had shown herself to be previously. Now well see which Fran we met next; the Devil or the Angel.
